New user - features that would make task & project creation easier
S
Samuel Howard
I'm a new user, so forgive me if any of these features are already available and I've just missed them (but, if so, please let me know how I can use them!).
I do a lot of what would be "projects" that include the same tasks - it would be nice to be able to copy a project and its tasks, or make project templates (or even task templates). Some "projects" I have would each have the same 10 or so tasks upon creation, and it is quite tedious to remake the same tasks for a new project every time.
Similarly, the ability to select multiple tasks at once (e.g., check boxes that could be selected by keyboard and clicked) and collectively edit them (e.g., to assign at once several selected tasks to the same hour on the calendar, assign them all the same duration/label/project/etc.), rather than having to individually go to each task's task pane and edit
Additionally, maybe I'm missing this somewhere, but a way to (preferably dynamically/readily, but really at all) adjust the default task duration/date/deadline/etc. for newly created tasks would be nice, preferably in a similar way that a default label can be easily selected and re-selected (i.e., without going to a settings pane). The existing ability to both set a default label and easily change the default label in the task creation pane makes it a lot easier to create multiple tasks for the same label and then transition to making multiple tasks for another label. The same functionality for duration/deadline/date of task/etc. would make creating tasks much less time consuming - currently, it can be a bit of a chore.
Finally, right now it is very difficult to create a task and give it a duration, deadline date, and/or calendar block without using the mouse. Calendar block assignment is especially difficult - it is neither quick to do with a mouse or with a keyboard. Mouse requires me to scroll minute by minute to change the start time (could this be changed in a setting to default to 15/30/etc. min time increments?), and using the keyboard to type out a time for a calendar block is incredibly frustrating and unintuitive. One possible solution, and not sure if this is viable, but microsoft's To Do let's you toggle functionality for the program to read a date (e.g., "today", "tomorrow". "4/30" etc.) in plain text from a task's title and, upon pressing enter (i.e., adding the task), the program sets that date as the task's date, and deletes the date language from the task title. I don't imagine it would require NLP if a standard format for such functionality were implemented - e.g., understands "today," "tomorrow," "Monday," etc. and DD/MM, DD/MM/YY, etc.
Regardless, once tasks and projects are actually set up, this app is great. As the above suggests, my main gripe is the time necessary to put everything together in the "planning" phase.
Thanks!

Hi Samuel,
Thank you for your detailed feedback! These suggestions are indeed great ideas. We will take it into consideration and add it to our roadmap of improvements. Thank you for using our app :)

Subtasks feature request
Yozora
Hi! really love your app! Your app improves my productivity when i really need it. One feature i would also like in the future is having subtasks in the tasks tab since i had this habit of breaking my main tasks into several chunks and i would really appreciate if i could keep track on that instead of using tags. Hope for the best of your app!

Sorting feature
K
Kassidy Mamboue
Please add a sorting feature/filter within the tasks. More specially, I want to be able to sort the tasks by the dates and deadlines. Right now it is hard for me to organize my urgent tasks because I have to manually drag and place them in order of dates, but then when I add another task it's all messy again so it wastes a lot of time.
Additionally, instead of ticking the tags/projects, I think it'd be best if we were just able to select. A lot of time, I just want to look at tasks on one category at a time, but then I have to, again, manually tick and untick the tags and it's time wasted.
Other than that, the app is amazing and thank you for creating this!~

Task category-based statistics
K
Kerry-Anne Tarlton
I would love to be able to view statistics such as how many hours I've spent working on tasks for a particular category. I use categories to group my tasks by module/course and it'd be great to be able to compare how much time I'm spending on each.

It would be great to have more options when scheduling repeat tasks (and to be able to edit them once created). All task management apps I've used, apart from LifeAt, enable you to create custom repeating tasks rather than just 'daily/weekly/monthly'. For example, repeating tasks only on weekdays or only on Tuesdays & Wednesdays. At the moment I'm going to have to manually create the same weekly task for every work day which will be a chore!
Also, it would be great to have the option to prioritise tasks (eg mark them as high, medium, low priority etc.)

possible some this exists or is already on your roadmap :)
Love your product! I'm a Product manager who has used a lot of planning tools.... these are just some ideas that crossed my mind as I was playing with it. Added images for the other tools I mentioned for reference.
- nested tags (like in gsuite)
- keep music playing when switching from focus to plan
- tags also on notes
- checklists on tasks (like in things)
- able to link a note with a task (even if it doesn't have an action item - ie can click into a task and see an associated note)
- hotkeys to create new task, new note, new tag etc. (like in things - https://culturedcode.com/things/support/articles/2785159/)
- high level view on notes in a list rather than a drop down list (like in evernote)
- reminder alerts on tasks?
- able to sort the tags through a drag and drop
- different timeline views on your tasks? (today view, 1 week view, 1 month view) to minimizing the horizontal scrolling you need to do.
- inbox of the day - all your tasks for the day, anything late summarized
- if someone has a lot of tags, the click to filter is gonna get tedious, maybe a filter on tasks, rather than having to click one by one. If you build a generic filter functionality, could also include a filter on due date, etc etc. as you add properties (like of like the filter function in notion: https://www.notion.so/help/views-filters-and-sorts)
- ability to drag the side peeks to be wider (ie I can't expand the tag column to be able to see the whole tag name if it's long)
- multiple tags on a task
- swimlanes on tasks, so you can segregate your personal life from your work tasks

Timer & count
J
Josie Clarke
I would love it if there was an option to click on the 4 dots for the pomodoro count and get a summary of number of focus hours- I've lost track of how many pomodoros I've completed. Also when I tried to click on something else on the main page it directed me to the 'sign up for pro' screen, at which point my timer & the pomodoro count reset, which is kinda annoying

Hi Josie Clarke - you can click on the little fire emoji up at the top right which will show you your Streak analytics - we're thinking of making a few improvements to this, so let us know what you think! :)
